2019 Challenging Quilt Challenge - the winners!
We are so pleased to announce the winners of our Challenging Fabric Challenge for 2019! We had over 750 votes for 20 beautiful quilts and one pillow entry - wow!
As a reminder, here is the fabric that our quilters were tasked with using:
In first place, Casey Rawson's Library Cat was the purrrrfect vision for our challenging fabric! Of her quilt, she says "This quilt was inspired by my work as a library science educator and my black cat Juno. I used the "Hipster Cat" pattern by Shwin & Shwin for the cat and designed the books myself".
Quilter Patricia Ladd ironically brought smiles to so many faces with her ode to Grumpy Cat! Of her quilt, she simply says "Fear his grumpy majesty".
In third place, Jennifer Maggio toned down the bright challenge fabric with calm grays, which perfectly framed her fabric cats. She says "I learned a lot from a class back in Ohio when I was living there. I drew a draft for this project to focus on the pattern (fabric)."
Thanks to all 21 creators who entered the challenge this year! You can see the winning quilts on display in our Meeting Center through the end of November 2019.
Look for this challenge again next August at Cary Quilting Company. In the meantime, we will be on the lookout for a fabric to top this year's selection!
See you for next year's challenge!
