Daisy Buitrago - Bio

Daisy Buitrago

Growing up in a cash strapped household was a catalyst for Daisy’s creative skills. She taught herself to hand sew doll clothes from scraps and would constantly sketch fashion designs. Her parents got her a sewing machine in high school allowing her to create both her prom dresses and this sewing machine is still in service as her secondary machine! Daisy went on to college, designing for and modeling in several fashion shows at NC State’s College of Textiles

These days, Daisy uses her sewing skills in multiple avenues. She created a small business, SewDaisy, selling her handmade OOAK purses, bags, accessories , swimsuits and clothing. Her favorite in person event of the year to vend at is the Carolina Circus Festival. She partners with a local stylist to offer alterations packages, teaches private sewing lessons,  and takes custom projects on through out the year.

When Daisy isn’t sewing, she is often hiking with her bestie of 13 years, her dog Sinnamon. Daisy has always been active in her community,  currently tutoring with the Read and Feed program. Her favorite way to give back is sewing reusable totes for the Cary Farmer’s Market every month with Toward Zero Waste Makers.
